Graduation was held for the Valley Central Class of 1976 at 7:00 p.m. on June 26, 1976. There were 392 graduating students. That year the Orange County Bicentennial Fireman’s Parade was held in Montgomery, on the same day as our  graduation, causing many students to arrive late. (See Ray Baty’s Photo on the fire truck below).

The ceremony opened with our National Anthem, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance which was led by our Class President John Upchurch. The Invocation was given by the Rev. Raymond D. Cummings, from the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Walden, N.Y. A speech was given by our Class Salutatorian, Catherine S. Cater. Awards were then presented by our principal Mr. Victor Hagar. Followed by a speech by the Valedictorian, Donna J. Shiner.

Principal Hagar then presented the Class of 1976 to the Superintendent Dr. William F. Moran, who then presented the Class of 76 to the Board of Education. Mr. Robert W. Kelso the President of the Board of Education presented the Diplomas.

The Benediction was then read by the Rev. William I. Cosman from the United Methodist Church of Walden, N.Y.

The Processional – (Pomp and Circumstance) and the Recessional – (March from Second Suite in F for Band), were preformed by the Valley Central School Band under the direction of Mr. John Nash.
